About Camp Hill Soccer Club

OUR MISSION:
The Camp Hill Soccer Club has a responsibility to promote the advancement of youth soccer in the Camp Hill area and to encourage participation as a vehicle to develop self-esteem and confidence while promoting fair competition, good sportsmanship, and health and fitness.

We will encourage the development of player skills and abilities, promote programs that teach basic team skills, and support the development of trained coaches and referees.

In addition, we will participate in Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer league (CPYSL) where we will advance teams and players to the highest possible level of play.

FALL PROGRAM:

·  Our biggest season, practices usually start in mid-to-late August. Games begin in late August or early September and continue to late October or early November.

·  A highlight of the Fall is our annual Opening Day ceremony, held the first Sunday after Labor Day.

·  Registration occurs the preceding spring, but late registrations are accepted (with a late fee), subject to available roster openings.

·  Teams are picked in late May/early June for the following fall. (This early selection is due to CPYSL registration requirements, and the need to find the appropriate number of coaches by early June.)

SPRING PROGRAM:

·  Smaller and more casual than fall.

·  Many teams do not hold practices during the spring season.

·  Contact your fall coach if you are interested in playing in the spring.

SUMMER PROGRAM:

·  Wednesday evening pickup games at Fiala Fields.

·  League sponsored player development camp (details to follow)

LEVELS OF PLAY:

·  Intramural Program
Includes our U-8 and U-6 (Smurf) programs. Teams are equally divided in skill level. The primary purpose of this league is the development of player skills. Teams practice 1-2 times per week, with one game per week. There are usually no additional costs. All practices and games are on field in Camp Hill.

·  Recreation Program (Division III)
Begins with the U-9/U10 age and is open to players of all skill levels. Teams generally play in Division III of CPYSL against other recreational (D-III) clubs close by.

Teams typically practice 2 times per week with Saturday games. Players are expected to get at least 50 percent playing time. This is ideal for players who enjoy playing for fun and/or want less of a commitment to soccer because of other activities.

Sometimes there is option of playing in one fall and/or one spring tournament, which would be an extra cost (approx. $10 per tournament.)

·  Travel Program (Division I/II)
These teams begin at the U-9/U-10 age and become more developed at the older ages.

Division II teams play in CPYSL where this level has become very competitive in recent years. This requires a higher level of skill. Teams are selected based on skill assessments by coaches and designated club player development officials.

Travel players need to be committed to a more demanding practice schedule (2 times per week minimum), one game per week (minimum playing time of 33 percent), and possible additional games throughout the fall season.

Typically these teams play a minimum of one tournament per year with additional costs. Travel distances are further than with the recreational program. In addition, we encourage these teams to continue to play in a spring program. Most CHSC travel teams play in this division.

When possible, the club also fields Division I teams, which play in a CPYSL league that is extremely competitive. This requires a high level of skill and player commitment with practice 2-3 times per week and one game per week with others possible (minimum playing time of 25 percent.)

These teams play and practice throughout the year and can include a spring season and an indoor/winter season (additional costs). Families should expect more tournaments (minimum 2 per year with extra costs.) Because of our small club size, it is sometimes difficult to compete at this level, but the CHSC is committed to providing this level of play.

Often these teams are open to members of other clubs and we will sometimes combine resources with other clubs to field these competitive teams.
